Release: Navigating the Smallest Bones of Autumn
New Paintings by Daniel PapkeApril 6th - 29th, 2007
Launchpad Gallery presents “Release: Navigating the Smallest Bones of Autumn” which features new painting from Daniel Papke.
Daniel Papke is a classically trained oil painter who uses some of the same techinques employed by the great masters; he puts down many layers of semi-transparent oil paint to build and blend rich, compicated colors. Most of Daniels previous work has focused on the figure, and so this show of semi-abstracted and textual emotional landscapes marks a turning point in his art making.
Along with being a talented painter, Daniel is going places! He graduates this year from the hallowed halls of Portland State University, where he is currently the co-director of the Food For Thought Student Gallery, regularly volunteers at P:EAR and has an upcoming show at Rake Art gallery this fall. Come explore the work of this exciting emerging local artist, and meet some nice folks too!
PS: A Nice, Full-Color 1/2 page photo of Daniel’s work headed up Portland Tribune article on First Friday. A smaller version of the image and the story can be found HERE!
